Failures of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1920s

Colored Waiting Room Sign

As African Americans still dealt with segregation, racial violence and killings, and denial of full economic and political rights promised by the end of the Civil War, leaders such as Booker T. Washington and W. E. B. Du Bois developed philosophies and institutions to combat the inequality and marginalization.
